Adobe's Lightroom 2 "offers powerful new and enhanced features across the entire program to help you streamline your digital photography workflow," according to Adobe. In Lightroom 2, Adobe has added multiple monitor support, an adjustment brush for localized editing, 64-bit processing and enhanced many of the existing features to make Lightroom more flexible with customizable functions. Lightroom 2 is designed in three user-friendly parts: Modules, Panels and the Filmstrip. Modules The Module Picker, located in the upper left corner of the Lightroom window, allows for easy switching between the modules. Click on the desired module and Lightroom changes the window and panels to the desired tools. New in the Develop Module is the Local Adjustment Brush. This is used for dodging and burning in specific areas. The Graduated Filter is another new tool that enhances editing ability by allowing the photographer to filter sections of an image for multiple corrections. Adobe has also enhanced the nondestructive photo editing capability. This makes multiple edits a breeze and it preserves the original image file. Editing tools for color correction, sharpening, saturation and exposure settings are in the Tools Panel in the Develop Module. Photoshop CS4 integration is seamless with smooth switching between applications for more intricate editing. The Slideshow Module can help with studio presentations. Images are easily customized with text overlays and color options. Slideshows can be used as impressive promotional tools. Adobe also added more templates and picture output options in the Print Module. The new Picture Package edit menu makes customizing picture layouts a breeze. Creating simple Flash presentations and HTML galleries can be done in the Web Module. Just select the images and change modules and the images are inserted into the desired presentation. Some customization is available in size, number of columns and site information. There are some new Airtight Viewers added, but not a lot of changes from the previous version. Panels Adobe improved some of the organizational tools with the panels in Lightroom 2. Panels are on the right and left sides of the Lightroom window. They include all the tools (right panel) and presets (left panel) for each of the Modules. More images can be sorted and filtered in bulk. This makes Lightroom 2 an extremely powerful image editor. Photographers working with large volumes of images can save time with the Keywording and Catalog panels in the Library module. PC World Magazine says of Lightroom: "A photo organizer and an impressive photo editor in one." Filmstrip Located at the bottom of the screen, Filmstrip allows the photographer to scan through and select images. By selecting images in Filmstrip, the images are automatically inserted into web galleries or print packages. Using the Filmstrip for editing choices saves time and streamlines your work flow. Some antivirus programs detect any portable apps as virus because portable apps make temporary files. If your antivirus detect a virus, it's a false positive; no virus. I have tried it, it works perfectly.
