CNET Editors\' review by: CNET staff on May 07, 2009 KLS Backup 2008 Standard doesn\'t have the most intuitive user interface for backing up important files and folders, but thankfully, it employs wizards to streamline the process. Once we put it to the test, it successfully backed up designated files, folders, and even our Registry keys. The user interface has commands at the top of the window, and four panels that display created profiles, profile tests, archives, and archive content. Not sure where to go first, we used the backup wizard to get started. Using the wizard, we added the files, selected the compression level, and applied encryption and a password to protect the ZIP file. The process was simple and the program immediately backed up our files. On a second run, we opted to back up our Registry keys. We were able to save the output file on a DVD. It took a visit to the Help menu to figure out how to schedule a backup without having to go through the wizard each time, but we were able to successfully schedule backups after that. Novice users might find the user interface a little overwhelming, and the 14-day trial period might be a little too short for some to get acquainted with the program, but more-experienced users will appreciate the program\'s comprehensive backup features.
