Good has written the following about the piano Conrad Graf gave to Clara Wieck in 1840 when she married Robert Schumann (after Schumann's death in 1856, Clara gave the instrument to Johannes Brahms): "...this piano was the property of three extremely fine pianists and leading musicians in Germany and Vienna for a period of more than thirty years. Schumann probably wrote his Piano Concerto, op. 54, his chamber music for piano and strings, and many other works on it. Those works sounded very different on the Graf from the way they sound on a modern Steinway. ... But it was quite enough to move Schumann to flights of romantic rhetoric when, in 1853, the twenty-year-old Brahms came and played his own works for the Schumanns, doubtless on this very instrument." LP transfer of above described material (BASF / DHM, c.1970), Includes covers, label, notes, etc. (German and English).
