these scripts are written for the Qwest/Actiontec Q1000 Wireless-N VDSL Modem Router.
they obtain info from "modemstatus_home.html" and run "rebootinfo.html" if necessary.
the check modem speed vbs file will change the console font, size and color settings, then
return the console to default settings when it closes. if a browser is open when the
\'reboot modem\' script is activated, the browser will be closed if it is the same process accessed
by the \'reboot modem\' script. windows 7 task scheduler will run the \'check modem speed\'
at any created schedule.
the \'install check modem speed v2\' batch file will create three files: \'check modem speed.vbs\',
\'xmlhttp script.bat\', and \'reboot modem.vbs\'. the created scripts create two more files: xmlhttp.tmp
and "stream %mnth%%yr%.log". the three created script files will check the Q1000 stream rate,
display downstream and upstream in a console window for five seconds, and save the info with time
and date to the log file. if the speed is less than 600kbps, the batch file will run the \'reboot modem\'
vbs file without a console display. if google chrome is installed, the scripts will use chrome, otherwise
internet explorer will be used to run the rebootinfo modem page. the processes are silent or minimized,
the only window to appear is console with the current modem downstream and upstream.
the \'xmlhttp script\' batch file can be edited to adjust the check rate kbps, and other browsers can be
incorporated into the \'reboot modem\' vbscript.
notepad++ is a useful editor in that it will display the line numbers in the script files and highlight syntax.
