Evans, Julie; Grimshaw, Patricia; Philips, David and Swain, Shurlee - Unequal Rights~Indigenous People in British Settler Colonies, 1830-1910
Unequal Rights examines the hows and whys of nineteenth-century British imperialism via comparative study of political rights in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. Unlike many past studies this one concentrates on economic-social aspects (e.g. land tenure) of colonialism rather than just politica-legal ones (e.g. governance). Not light, casual reading.
